Villa Mira Mar

Sitting above the entry level, this floor holds the bedrooms. The master is a serene, spacious room with huge glass picture windows that bring the ocean straight in — a sanctuary from the outside world, walls wrapped in soothing Jasso wallpaper.

The master has its own seating area and a veranda with retractable sliders, so the room opens to the ocean breeze and the sunsets. There is a patio set out there for morning coffee; most mornings a school of dolphins goes by.

The master bathroom is encased in French marble and wall-to-wall mirrors, with a bold Art Nouveau mermaid above the jetted tub and a glass-enclosed shower beside it. Two further guest bedrooms — one with a king, one with two twins — share a guest bath with double doors.

This is the street entry and the living level. From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping inside the ocean: all the walls are sand-cast with shells, the couch takes the form of a wave, and a wave coffee table finishes the thought.

Large glass picture windows are placed so the ocean is visible from nearly every angle. The kitchen is fitted with high-end appliances, the dining room seats the whole house, and a bathroom here hides a mermaid inside the mirror.

Another veranda with retractable sliders opens the room straight onto the oceanfront, with seating for four.

In front of the den is an enormous patio facing west, directly on the ocean — guests have used it as a dance floor. There is a gas fire pit and a BBQ out here, and it catches the sunrise, the sunsets, and everything in between.

Inside, the den has a huge carved wet bar, a pool table, a flat screen, electric shades and the stereo system. The décor is remarkable: mirrors over the bar carved with eagles, a solid oak bar carved with a hunting scene, faux block-wall finishes.

The full bathroom on this level is hand-painted with Canadian ducks in flight.

The lowest floor — what we call the loft — is a multi-purpose room: a large bar for a group celebrating at the ocean's edge, or a children's playroom on a quieter week.

It opens directly onto the villa's private sand level, set just above the beach. Out there you have the fire pit, lounge chairs, a round table, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a swim.

Inside, a couch and loveseat, a television, and a huge wet bar with a sub-zero refrigerator and sink.
